SAUTI | SAUTI program is the five-year program funded by USAID (2015-2020) Sauti awarded to Jhpiego and partners Engender Health, Pact and the National Institute for Medical Research (NIMR) Mwanza seeks to contribute to the improved health status of all Tanzanians through a sustained reduction in new HIV infections in support of the United Republic of Tanzania’s (URT) commitment to HIV prevention. Sauti Project operate in 14 regions and 51 districts (987 wards) in Arusha, Dar-es-Salaam, Dodoma, Iringa, Kilimanjaro, Manyara, Mbeya, Morogoro, Mtwara, Njombe, Shinyanga, Singida, Songwe and Tabora in accordance with the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) district-level prioritization. | OBJECTIVE 1: CONDUCT COMMUNITY MAPPING OF HOTSPOTS, BENEFICIARY HANGOUTS, AND OTHER PARTNERS AND RESOURCES WORKING IN THE ASSIGNED WARDS/DISTRICT. OBJECTIVE 2: DELIVER COMMUNITY-BASED BEHAVIOR CHANGE COMMUNICATION ACTIVITIES DESIGNED TO SPECIFICALLY ADDRESS THE HIV AND FAMILY PLANNING VULNERABILITIES OF VAGYW AND ADDRESS GENDER NORMS IN THE PROGRAM COMMUNITIES. OBJECTIVE 3: CREATE DEMAND FOR VAGYW TO BIOMEDICAL, SBCC AND ECONOMIC STRENGTHENING SERVICES; AND ASSIST WITH TRACKING AND TRACING OF INDIVIDUALS WHO ARE HIV INFECTED, POST GBV SURVIVORS AND ANY BENEFICIARY IN NEED FOR IUD OR A PERMANENT FP METHOD. OBJECTIVE 4: PROVIDE BIOMEDICAL SERVICES TO VAGYW AND ENROLLED INTO WORTH+ AND SBCC GROUPS RESPECTIVELY IN ALL WARDS. OBJECTIVE 5: SUPPORT THE PROVISION OF COMBINATION PREVENTION SERVICES AT RESOURCE CENTERS UPON MOHCDEG AND LGA RECOMMENDATION AND GUIDANCE. OBJECTIVE 6: OPERATE WORTH+ GROUPS IN THE DESIGNATED DREAMS PROJECT AREAS TO SERVE AS A PLATFORM TO ENABLE VULNERABLE YOUNG WOMEN TO ENGAGE IN POSITIVE LIFESTYLES AND BECOME SELF- RELIANT BY INVOLVING THEM IN THE INTEGRATED HIV PREVENTION AND LIVELIHOODS INTERVENTIONS. OBJECTIVE 7: IMPLEMENT ROUTINE M&E AND ASSIST WITH RESEARCH ACTIVITIES AS REQUIRED. Under the sub-award ASUTA implement SAUTI project in TEMEKE District covering 21 wards to provide expanded package of biomedical services to KPs, vAGYW and their children by providing Mobile CBHTC+ services at hot spots and to WORTH+ and SBCC groups which includes demand creation, facilitating linkage to biomedical services, group and individual education, distribution of targeted information materials, distribution of condoms, mainstream gender norms transformation and support the provision of combination prevention services at resource centers upon MOHCDEG and LGA recommendation and guidance. Through community engagement ASUTA has strengthen the role of SBCC to create awareness and understanding for increased uptake of HIV testing, linkage to care and treatment (test and start), addressing behavioral barriers to HIV Self Testing (HIVST), PrEP, early treatment amongst KP and PP and strengthen the Gender and GVB strategy through constructive engagement of male Community Based Health Service Providers (CBHSPs) to promote HIV prevention and treatment. |
EpiC | EpIC epidemic control (EpiC) is a global project funded by the U.S. PRESIDENT’S EMERGENCY PLAN FOR AIDS RELIEF (PEPFAR) AND THE U.S. AGENCY FOR INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT (USAID) aim to support Tanzania attain 95-95-95 by providing strategic TA & Direct Service Delivery FHI as a PRIME recipient implementing in 10 regions and 27 district councils. ASUTA as sub recipient support activities for HIV prevention, care and treatment and other related services among KVP and vulnerable AGYWs be in 21 working wards of TEMEKE district council of Dar es Salaam region and Six SNU in Lindi region of Tanzania. | OBJECTIVE 1: ATTAIN AND MAINTAIN HIV EPIDEMIC CONTROL AMONG AT-RISK ADULT MEN, WOMEN AND PPs. OBJECTIVE 2: ATTAIN AND MAINTAIN HIV EPIDEMIC CONTROL AMONG KVPs. OBJECTIVE 3: IMPROVE PROGRAM MANAGEMENT (INCLUDING HEALTH INFORMATION SYSTEMS [HIS] AND HUMAN RESOURCES FOR HEALTH [HRH]) AND FINANCIAL SYSTEMS TO ENSURE ATTAINMENT AND MAINTENANCE OF EPIDEMIC CONTROL; AND OBJECTIVE 4: SUPPORT THE TRANSITION OF PRIME FUNDING AND IMPLEMENTATION TO CAPABLE LOCAL PARTNERS TO MEET THE PEPFAR GOAL OF 70% OF FUNDING TO LOCAL PARTNERS BY 2020. Under EpiC Tanzania from FY20 to FY23 Feb ASUTA in Dar es Salaam Region-Temeke District reached a total of 33210 (100%) Key population through prevention services, a total of 35003 (87%) priority population with prevention services, 3229 (36%) key and priority population who were newly initiated with PrEP services, a total of 42705 (74%) KVP received HTS and testing services while 4081 (90%) were identified HIV positive and 3625 (84%) were initiated with ART care and treatment. From FY23 under EpiC project ASUTA expand to reach KVPs in Lindi region as a new area to cover 6 SNUs of Kilwa DC, Lindi MC, Liwale DC, Nachingwea DC, Ruangwa DC, and Lindi DC. Whereby as of March a total of 1784 (79%) key population provided with prevention services, 1861 (16%) priority population with prevention services, 2713 (67%) with HTS and testing services while 64 (20%) KVP s identified as positive clients and 63 (98%) linked with ART care and treatment, key and priority population who were newly initiated with PrEP services 225 (34%). |
RMNCAH | USAID Afya Yangu Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health-RMNCAH led by Jhpiego Tanzania as the prime contractor is a five-year project (2022–2027) aimed at increasing the demand for and use of quality integrated RMNCAH services in 11 targeted regions of Tanzania Mainland i.e Mwanza, Geita, Mara, Shinyanga, Simiyu, Dodoma, Tabora, Katavi, Manyara, Tanga and Dar es salaam as well as the Zanzibar. Particularly women of reproductive age, youth and children by improving access to quality RMNCAH services in both facilities and the surrounding communities, promoting positive health-seeking behaviors among Tanzania’s population and enhancing the overall policy environment for RMNCAH service delivery. | OBJECTIVES 1: TO IMPROVE ACCESS TO QUALITY, CLIENT CENTERED RMNCAH SERVICES OBJECTIVES 2: TO IMPROVE ABILITY OF INDIVIDUALS TO PRACTICE POSITIVE HEALTHSEEKING AND SELF-CARE BEHAVIORS; AND OBJECTIVES 3: TO ENHANCE ENABLING ENVIRONMENT FOR QUALITY RMNCAH SERVICE PROVISION In the implementation of USAID Afya Yangu RMNCAH Program, ASUTA cover’s 6 wards of Mlele DC: Kamsisi, Ninyonga, Nsekwa, Ilela, Ilunde and Utende by providing SBCC through creating small Group Education/sessions at community level led by CHWs, Disseminate RMNCAH message through community mobilization activities (i.e., theatres, public service announcements, road shows, leverage activities) Distribute SBCC materials such as posters, leaflets at existing community activities, providing In –school and out of school Group education sessions to 1158 beneficiaries led by GMs/ YHCs for adolescents peer groups. Through community engagement ASUTA has mobilize existing CHWs to bring awareness on RMNCAH issues in wards and village levels and provide referrals for pregnant women who have not attended clinic within 12 weeks of pregnancy, train/refresh CHWs on RMNCAH various community packages and use of community score card, improving linkages between facilities and communities i.e. supporting CHWs/CHVs to make referrals and follow up with household visits where referrals may be needed (e.g., small new-born, infants with diarrhea or fever, children post-SAM care). ASUTA has also emphasize on gender and respectful care by facilitating CHWs to roll out community couple dialogues, Gender and respectful care Advocacy in wards and village levels, and engaging religious, traditional and other influential people within the community. |
AHADI | The project AHADI (Accelerated Hope and Development for Urban Adolescents in Tanzania) is funded by GAC and World Vision Canada and it is implemented by a consortium led by World Vision Tanzania and participated by Medecins du Monde and Kibaha institute of business (KiB). AHADI aims to increase the realization of sexual and reproductive health and rights, wellbeing and dignity of marginalized adolescent girls (10-19) and key population in municipalities of Tanzania (Dar Es Salaam and Dodoma). Medecins du Monde oversees the component “Adolescent girls and boys (10-19) belonging to key vulnerable population groups identified to access tailored SRHR and harm reduction services”. | OBJECTIVES 1: ENHANCED AGENCY AND AUTONOMY OF ADOLESCENT GIRLS TO MAKE AND ACT ON THEIR DECISIONS ON SRHR AND SGBV AND PROTECTION FOR GENDER EQUALITY AND EMPOWERMENT OBJECTIVES 2: IMPROVED CAPACITY OF GUARDIANS, COMMUNITY INFLUENCERS AND COMMUNITY STRUCTURES TO PROMOTE AND ADVOCATE FOR ADOLESCENT GIRLS’ SRHR AND PROTECTION AGAINST GBV AND HARMFUL DISCRIMINATORY PRACTICES AND NORMS OBJECTIVES 3: INCREASED ABILITY OF ADOLESCENT GROUPS AND CBOS TO MEANINGFULLY PARTICIPATE IN AND ENGAGE NATIONAL/ SUB-NATIONAL/LOCAL GOVERNMENT DECISION-MAKING STRUCTURES TO ADVANCE GE, ADOLESCENT GIRLS' SRHR, AND PREVENT AND RESPOND TO GBV OBJECTIVES 4: INCREASED EMPLOYABILITY AND ENTREPRENEURIAL SKILLS AMONG TARGETED VULNERABLE ADOLESCENT GIRLS OBJECTIVES 5: INCREASED CAPACITY OF INSTITUTIONS TO PROVIDE ADDITIONAL GENDER RESPONSIVE MARKET-ORIENTED OPPORTUNITIES, KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS, FINANCIAL AND EMPLOYMENT SUPPORT SERVICES TO VULNERABLE ADOLESCENT GIRLS ASUTA In partnering with MdM to support the implementation of the aforesaid component in the district of Temeke in Azimio, Tandika and Mtoni wards through Increasing access to improved ASRHR and nutrition services including protection and respect of adolescent girls’ and boys’ personal privacy, autonomy, intimate communication and identity by adolescent boys and girls out of schools. ASUTA has contributed to the identification of AGYWs PREV 111 (41%), KP PREV145 (63%), STI referral 26 (21%) and GBV referral 23 (13%). Substance use prevention and rehabilitation services provided to users. Identification and selection of KVP Friendly Health Facilities, sensitization/SBC/Health talks/Informative sessions to beneficiaries on SRH issues (importance of testing, Family planning, service providers, etc) and on SRHR, gender approach, and how to respond to violations, develop and distribute tailored IEC material in hotspots, coordination meetings (LGAs, Law enforcers and Health Management Team) to ensure linkage and collaboration between health facilities, Law enforcers and LGAs and Organization of events with the celebrations of international days (HIV World Day, Support don't Punish, International Day of Girl child, International Day of Action for Women's Health, etc). |
