Foundation and Registration (2008-2010): ASUTA was established with the mission to empower marginalized groups. By 2010, we obtained formal registration, enabling us to operate and implement projects throughout Tanzania.
Initial Health Interventions (2010-2015): Early projects targeted health service delivery, focusing on addressing the challenges of HIV/AIDS and improving maternal and child health outcomes. Our dedicated efforts contributed to reaching over 20,500 individuals with HIV prevention education. We formed 22 income-generating activity (IGA) groups with 374 members trained.
Expansion of Services (2016-2019): ASUTA broadened its scope of work, launching several initiatives aimed at socio-economic development, environmental conservation, and education. Projects like SAUTI, funded by USAID, successfully identified 31,000 key affected populations living with HIV/AIDS, of which 21,700 were linked to care and treatment. Over 1,000,000 individuals received prevention education and services during this period.
Enhanced Community Engagement (2020-Present): In recent years, ASUTA has intensified its focus on community engagement and capacity building. Our EpiC project reached 4,284 (83%) key affected populations (KAPs) living with HIV. 4,198 (98%) of these individuals were linked to care and treatment, with 3,988 (95%) achieving suppressed viral load results.
Current Initiatives: ASUTA actively participates in diverse projects, including the USAID HESHIMU BAHARI, which conducts ecological surveys that support sustainable practices in coastal areas. In our AHADI project, 488 (98%) KAPs were reached with prevention services, while 95 (95%) were educated about sexual and reproductive health rights.
